Oh so colorful

So the whole weight loss thing isn't going so well for me, and it's my own fault. I'm not making the time to exercise, and this week I have not eaten well.. so I'm going to write about something else instead of weight loss.

Colors.

Yes, I'm going to write about colors.

That's what we've been busy with the last few weeks. Colors. Specifically applying colors to the walls in our new bedrooms at mom's house. What a learning experience! I had no idea how important blue painter's tape was and just how many things you'd need to tape up in order to avoid dripping paint. Kudo's to house painters! It's not an easy job.

We started with painting the boys room sky blue - and I do mean sky blue. It looks like a bright blue sky in the middle of summer when there aren't any clouds - you get lost in the blue. It's awesome!

Then we painted our room sage green. I think the actual color is minted sage. It's BEAUTIFUL! Ryan's not exactly thrilled with it, but he said since I love it so much he can live with it (he's so sweet). Most of our furniture is dark wood, so the light sage on the walls is a great contrast. Ryan has found some amazing art pieces to hang on our walls as well, so they're giving the room an even lighter feel. I'll post some pictures soon.

The last room we painted was the girls bedroom. It used to be our bedroom and Ryan painted it dark red in 2003. He also painted the baseboards black, so it was a very dark room. Guess what color the girls wanted? Pink - you guessed it. So after a coat of awesome primer, we painted the girls room bubble gum pink. It's actually quite pretty and goes very well with the black baseboards. They're going to have an interesting flair in their room because they don't have closet doors (the doors were taken down years ago and were ruined in the garage). So we're hanging up a cloth shower curtain to separate their closet from their room. I'm not too sure how it'll look, but the girls are excited about it and after all, that's what matters. :)

I thought we were finished with painting at this point, but we weren't. This past weekend we painted the hallway that leads to our bedrooms a soft peach color. I HATED the color at first - it looked like salmon. But after it dried for a good 12 hours, it looks MUCH better and goes really well with the three bedroom colors. Ryan's been purchasing runners and rugs to contrast the colors and he's done a FANTASTIC job. He definitely has the creative gene and it's been great for him to have this project for the last month or so.

Last night he moved almost all of the boys furniture over to mom's house. The only thing left is their bed and a small bookcase. I can't wait to see it!

He's hoping to have everything moved in by the middle of March and he's been working at an exhausting pace every evening when I get home from work. I promised him that after we move, he gets a full weekend by himself with a big stack of movies and steak from Chili's. He is working so hard and deserves it!

I'm excited about the changes being made and look forward to being settled in to one house instead of spread across two. I have thoroughly loved living in the house we're in now, but things happen for a reason, and His reasons are always good. So here's to another new chapter in our lives.
